Colorado State University-Pueblo’s Yasmine Hernandez made history in 2022 when she became the school’s first-ever NCAA national champion by winning the 1500 meters at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 4 minutes, 15 seconds. This feat also catapulted her to another first – becoming CSU-Pueblo’s first-ever NCAA Division II Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Scholar Track Athlete of the Year.
Yasmine’s 2022 was one for the ages, as the Johnstown native not only excelled in her sport, but also in the classroom. Hernandez, a summa cum laude graduate with a degree in nursing, is a 6X USTF-CCCA All-Academic Athlete. She was named the RMAC (R-Mac) Woman of the Year, Division II National Scholar Track Athlete of the Year, and was among the finalists for NCAA Woman of the Year. Congratulations to Yasmine Hernandez, a true All-Around leader as an athlete, student, and citizen in her community.
