Madi Mintenko | HS Swimming honoree (2025 & 2024)

This is a remix of a visit with Madi Mintenko -- a two-time time Sportswomen of Colorado honoree as a HS Swimming student-athlete.

In 2025, Mintenko set a 500-meter freestyle state record and a 200-meter freestyle Class 4A record as she completed her preps career undefeated in those two events -- claiming EIGHT individual state titles as a high school swimmer. Additional accomplishments in 2025 include: a 1st place finish in 200-meter freestyle and a 3rd place finish in 400-meter freestyle at the TYR Pro Championships AND a finalist position (8th) in the 400-meter freestyle at the USA Swimming National Championships.

Historically, Madi has been twice celebrated among Sportswomen of Colorado honorees - at the 52nd Awards Celebration on March 8, 2026 and at the 51st Awards Celebration on March 9, 2025. Both those events were held at the Hyatt Regency in the Denver Technological Center.

This conversation with Jennifer Anderson-Ehrlich (executive director) was originally added to the MTN TV programming rotation on September 15, 2025. Mintenko inspired us to remix that interview after she just won gold in the 400-meter freestyle and bronze in the 200-meter freestyle at the USA Swimming National Championships on July 31, 2026 and July 29, 2026, respectively.

In March of 2026, Madi was a two-time finalist at the NCAA Division 1 National Championships contributing to the University of Virginia winning its 6th consecutive team title.

twoand Jennifer This is a revisit of Jen catchin' up with Jordan Nytes for a weekly television segment that ran on September 18, 2025.

At the time, Nytes was just beginning her final Fall season as the goalkeeper for the University of Colorado women's soccer program. (Nytes, a 2-time Big 12 Conference Goalkeeper of the Year would eventually help lead the Buffaloes to a 17-4-3 overall record and a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA tournament.)

Sportswomen of Colorado celebrated Nytes as our College Soccer Athlete of the Year for 2024.

Nytes was won a high school Class 5A state championship with the Grandview Wolves in 2022. She was named Gatorade Player of the Year in Colorado for that season as well.

On January 16, 2025, she signed with Denver Summit FC of the National Women's Soccer League.

The Walk Ups - Ceremony 52

Ten years ago, we began recognizing the women who were and still are significant to the success of Sportswomen of Colorado as an organization. Our leaders we have previously celebrated include: Joy Burns, Joan Birkland, Gerri Cunningham, Cookie Barron, Diane Wendt, Sue Shaffer, Helen McLoriane and Lynn Barczuk.

In 2026, we celebrate Annie Hoskinson - who has known Sportswomen of Colorado since its beginning.

In 1974 - as a student at the University of Denver - Hoskinson watched this organization take shape. She could not have known then that she would eventually contribute to shaping it herself.

After graduating from DU, Annie began her career as Assistant Director of Intramurals at her university before heading to New York to work in sports marketing. Yet Colorado would call her back home. She returned in the late 1980s as an event planner and rejoined DU, where she became deeply connected to the Denver community as Director of Athletic Development and University Partners. In 2010, Executive Director of Sportswomen of Colorado, Joan Birkland, invited Annie to coordinate the Sportswomen of Colorado Camp Program. Annie joined the Board of Directors and led the camps program for five years. Her role offered her an opportunity to organize scholarships for over 500 girls so they could attend and experience summer sports programs which otherwise would have been beyond their reach for various reasons. An increasingly inspired Hoskinson then became deeply involved in the coordination and production of our annual awards ceremony.

In January 2017, Annie accepted the role of Executive Director for Sportswomen of Colorado. For seven years, she performed that role with vision, heart, and steadiness.

Annie often says that - as a pre-Title IX baby - there is nothing more important than ensuring girls have the opportunity to participate in sports. That belief has guided her work and shaped her leadership. Promoting, honoring, and empowering Colorado girls and women in sports is not just a mission she supported... it is a lifetime journey for her.

This is a media appearance by Jennifer Anderson-Ehrlrich (Executive Director of Sportswomen of Colorado) on Real Talk with Micah Smith - a program produced for KMGH-TV in Denver, CO.

Jen was sourced about the following topics: (1) What contributes to the high numbers of girls dropping out of athletics by the age of 14 - regardless of a high awareness of the positive participation numbers reported publicly. (2) What the implications are with the new Denver Summit franchise beginning play in the NWSL. (3) Perceptions about the elevated interest in professional women's sports. (4) The experience and value of sports for Jen.

This clip was produced with a courtesy to KMGH-TV and Micah Smith with sincere intentions of sharing with respectful and professional compliance.
