World Champion and won all 12 races she entered
Last year, Susan Griffin-Kaklikian owned every course she raced on. Competing in the 70–74 age group, this Colorado Springs triathlete won all 12 races she entered, from local events to international championships. She captured 6 national titles at the USA Triathlon National Multisport Championships and brought home 4 world championship medals from Spain and Australia. By years end, Susan ranked #1 nationally in triathlon by a wide margin… and get this, had Susan competed in the younger 65–69 age group, she would have placed 2nd. Her competitive spirit started over 4 decades ago when she competed in track and cross county for the US Army team… she added triathlon to the mix after meeting a couple of world class triathletes when she was a grad student. Since then, Susan has competed in 32 World Triathlons. Locally Susan is no slouch either… last year she took 1st place in her age group at the very competitive Boulder Sunset Triathlon and the Loveland Last Call Triathlon.
