You could see the greatness in Sophia Smith as she grew up in Windsor and attended Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins. She was destined for success on the soccer pitch, and 2023 was one of her best years ever. Sophia scored 11 goals in 16 games for the Portland Thorns of the NWSL, including two hat tricks. She was named the Golden Boot winner as best player in the league. She was also nominated for the US Soccer Player of the Year after scoring 3 goals for the U-S Women’s National Team. At age 22, Sophia made history when she became the youngest player ever to score 2 goals in her World Cup debut, knocking two balls into the net against Vietnam.  Now at age 23, she is only looking forward to bigger and better things. Sophia Smith is our honoree in Professional Soccer.
