For four years, Colorado School of Mines’ soccer sensation Reese McDermott put fear into opponents. The four-time All-American started all but five of 85 matches, logging more than 5,200 minutes and scoring 53 goals and 19 assists for a total of 125 points with 18 game-winners. She helped lead the number one ranked Orediggers to a 2024 Division II NCAA quarterfinal finish and a season record of 20-1-2. One of the greatest, most decorated players in Mines women’s soccer history, McDermott was the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Academic Player and Player of the Year in 2024 & 2023. She was named Most Valuable Player of the RMAC Women’s Soccer Tournament twice and also named RMAC Freshman of the Year in 2021. At the Mines December commencement, McDermott graduated with honors, followed by being named a First Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators, as well as President’s Senior Scholar Athlete while pursuing a degree in Quantitative Biosciences & Engineering.
