Colorado Mesa University’s Myah Arrieta came off a knee injury and was asked to switch positions from second base to shortstop as a junior. She responded with a record-breaking season, earning Player of the Year honors from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and the South-Central Region. Myah, a Grand Junction native who starred at Central High School, hit 28 home runs, an RMAC and CMU record, and is tied for third in NCAA Division II history. She went on a 10-game spree with at least one home run, slugging 15 in that span, an NCAA all-division record. Her amazing season included school and conference records with 84 runs scored, which tied for second in Division II history. She hit a conference-leading .470. Myah led the Mavericks to the RMAC regular season title and to the regional title game, losing to the eventual national champion. Among her many post-season awards were first-team All-America honors.
