Mikaela Shiffrin – 2018
We honor Mikaela Shiffrin as the 2018 Sportswomen of Colorado Sportswoman of the Year for the fifth time. Throughout her career, Mikaela has crushed almost every record there is in the sport of skiing. She closed 2018 with 15 World Cup wins which is the most ever for an alpine skier in a calendar year. She earned an Olympic Gold Medal in the Giant Slalom in Pyeongchang. She picked up her 36th career World Cup slalom victory, putting her within striking distance of the all-time record of 40 career wins held by Ingemar Stenmark. Her unrelenting dominance in 2018 made her the most successful female slalom racer in the circuit’s history.
The 23-year-old, who is on course to be the greatest skier of all time, recently captured her fourth straight slalom title at the world championships in Sweden. Something no other alpine skier- male or female- has ever done.
