Mikaela Shiffrin – 2015

During the 2014 – 2015 World Cup season, Our Sportswoman of the Year won her second world championship title in slalom. As the reigning Olympic Champion, she had her first World Cup win ever in Giant Slalom. She had 8 podium finishes… six in first place.  Mikaela Shiffrin made her World Cup debut in March of 2011 as a 15-year-old. Now, as a 21-year-old, Mikaela won all seven slaloms she had competed in since February of last year until a partial mcl tear last December during a practice run precipitated a five-race layoff that kept her from retaining the World Cup Championship title this year. The good news is Mikaela’s back! If her World Cup victory in Slovakia last week – by a whopping 2 and-a-half-seconds — is any indication, she’s still a force to be reckoned with. Older and wiser at 21 years of age, Mikaela Shiffrin is our Sportswoman of the year!
