A couple of years ago, Sportswomen recognized Michaela Onyenwere for her hard work and accomplishments at Grandview High School. Onyenwere was the sixth overall pick in the 2021 WNBA draft. In her first professional season, Onyenwere was named Rookie of the Month every month of the season, becoming front runner for Rookie of the Year and fifth in WNBA history to sweep the season. In the end, Onyenwere was two votes shy of unanimously receiving the Rookie of the Year. Onyenwere averaged 8.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and led the rookies with 37 three pointers made.
