Ready, aim, fire. Set a national record. Win titles. That’s what our high school shooting sports honoree did in 2022. And, now she’s won back-to-back Sportswomen of Colorado awards.

Megan Torrence is a homeschooled high school junior from the small town of Calhan about midway between Colorado Springs and Limon, and she’s a spitfire when it comes to her specialty, three-position rifle shooting.

That’s where you shoot from a standing, kneeling, and prone position, aiming at a target 10 meters away. At the 4-H nationals, Megan set a national record in three-position small bore rifle in the junior and open category. Her record-setting score was a 595 out of 600! Meaning she only missed five shots! She also won the three-position air rifle national title.

Megan’s qualified for the National Junior Olympic Development Team, she received an endowment grant from USA Shooting. And, she’s verbally committed to the Air Force Academy to compete as a member of Falcons rifle team.

You could say, Megan Torrence is a sharpshooter who just doesn’t miss!
