Year: 2019
Award: Gymnastics, College
Location/Affiliation: University of Denver

  • NCAA Floor Exercise Co-Champion
  • Led DU to 4th Place at the NCAA Championships

It couldn’t get much better for University of Denver (DU) gymnast Lynnzee Brown in 2019. In short, it was a record-breaking season for her and her Pioneers team. When she finished as co-champion in the floor exercise at the NCAA Division I Championships, she became just the second individual national champion in DU gymnastics history and her sixth place finish in the individual all-around was the best in DU history.

DU gymnastics has a strong NCAA tradition, but the Pioneers team had never qualified for the Division I NCAA Championships Team Final before Lynnzee’s efforts led them there. Not only did the Pioneers make it to the team final, they finished a record-shattering fourth place overall.

Leading up to the NCAAs, the Pioneers won their first-ever regional title and recorded the highest post-season score in team history. Lynnzee finished as regional co-champion in both the all-around and floor exercise. She won the Big 12 Conference all-around title. And, during the regular season, she tied the all-time DU record for highest all-around score.

See? We told you Lynnzee Brown was a record-setter.
