Two-time 5A All-Around State Champion
Layla Petz is one of the most accomplished female athletes ever to wear an Arvada West uniform. In an era of specialization, she stood out as a true three-sport athlete, competing in gymnastics, diving, and track and field. Tonight, however, we honor her excellence in gymnastics. A two-time All-Around State Champion and two-time CHSAA Gymnast of the Year, Layla is also a four-time first-team All-State honoree and first-team All-Conference performer. In true champion form, she capped off her career by delivering a performance for the history books at the state championships… becoming just the eighth gymnast in Colorado history to win all four individual events in a single championship, capturing titles on vault, bars, beam and floor. Oh, and by the way, she just won the 5A State Championship in Diving. An AP student, Petz will continue her education on scholarship at the University of Oregon.
