Julia Fuller is the cross country coach for the Buena Vista Demons—both the girls and boys team. She was named Coach of the Year by the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA). Julia definitely earned that award, as her girls cross country team went undefeated in 2020. Being undefeated is amazing in of itself, but the biggest accomplishment for her Demons was when they won the Class 2A title for the first time in school history!
2020 was an unprecedented year full of the unknown. Julia Fuller credits that unknown for the success of her team. The idea that the girls didn’t know when their last race would be during the season, helped them to focus on each individual race and stay undefeated. Even the boys cross country team made an improvement moving up from ninth place heading into the final race, to a seventh place finish.
