Executive Director

Summary: The Part-Time Executive Director works closely with the working Board of Directors and their committees to establish and carry out the strategic direction of the organization.


  • Uses the strategic plan to lead and guide the organization’s work.
  • Develop effective policies and programs to support the organization’s mission.
  • Explain the organization’s purpose and programs to community partners, policy makers, supporters and public.
  • Administer standards and procedures related to budget, events, and activities.
  • Organize and execute fundraising to support the Board’s work. Works with the treasurer to identify fundraising needs.
  • Organize and oversee all administrative responsibilities related to events and programs.
  • Guide marketing, communication, and public relations of the organization.
  • Identify and support contract employees and/or interns effectively.
  • Lead programs and events.


  • Commitment to the Sportswomen of Colorado’s mission and vision.
  • Experience with non-profit organizations either as staff member or as involved board member.
  • Proven ability to build and strengthen relationships within an organization and the community it serves.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to assess needs, and multi-task.
  • Proven ability to listen to all points of view.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the Board of Directors.
  • Experience and comfort using media tools including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, etc. Experience with video editing software preferred.
  • Demonstrated successful leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising, with emphasis on working with individual donors, corporate sponsorships, and long-term endowment funds.
  • Experience leading large events from start to finish.
  • A strong background and knowledge about athletics.

Sportswomen of Colorado is a 501(c)(3) celebrating 50 years of recognizing and publicly honoring outstanding female athletes in Colorado. SWOC’s mission is to promote, honor, and empower Colorado girls and women in sport.

Salary: $35,000 – $45,000 commensurate to experience level
