Jennifer Schubert-Akin is an outstanding marathon runner and triathlete who also uses her athletic prowess to give back.

On the athletic side, Jennifer’s finished the Boston Marathon an incredible 25 consecutive years, which puts her in the ultra-exclusive Boston Athletic Association’s Quarter Century Club. She’s one of only 10 women to achieve the honor, and is the only one from Colorado.

She regularly finishes on the podium in runs from 5K to 100 miles, including 3 silver buckle finishes in the Leadville Trail 100 Trail Run. But it’s about much more than personal results.

For Jennifer, Multiple Sclerosis hits close to home. Her sister, Yvonne, was diagnosed with MS when she was 25. Through her marathon running, Jennifer has raised over $150,000 for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Her passion comes from a desire to do all that’s possible to find a cure for the disease.

Yvonne nominated her sister for a Sportswomen of Colorado award. She wrote, “I know that every step Jennifer takes in her running is for me.” Jennifer Schubert-Akin’s selflessness is why she is our 2019 Inspiration Award honoree.
