2019 was a spectacular year for Sportswomen of Colorado High School Basketball honoree Jana Van Gytenbeek. Jana didn’t just lead her Cherry Creek team to its first-ever 5A State Championship, she scored the game winner with just four seconds on the clock! The Colorado High School Coaches voted her 5A Girls Player of the Year, and she was named the Joint Effort Colorado Player of the Year. She was equally successful outside of the prep season, winning a national title with her club basketball team while playing on the Adidas Circuit.
Not only is Jana Van Gytenbeek the most decorated girls basketball player in the history of Cherry Creek, but, according to her coach, she takes the time to talk with and support the younger female athletes who will follow in her footsteps. Jana has already committed to playing basketball for Stanford University starting in 2020. Jana will also travel to Spain to play with her Adidas Select Team for the United States.
