Location/Affiliation: Lutheran High School
- 4A Player of the Year
- #1 in the state in strikeouts and wins
- 5th-ranked pitcher in the nation
The most frightening place for any player to be on a softball diamond is in the batter’s box staring into the windup of Lutheran High School pitcher Hailey Maestretti. When the ball leaves the circle, you can almost bet the house that it will be called a strike. After all, she’s had more than 500 of these in her young career.
Maestretti rang up 17 batters in a state championship performance, only allowing four hits, en route to her second-straight state title – one in 3A and the second in 4A. She put on a pitching clinic game after game, crowning her the 2022 Pikes Peak Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year, as well as the 2022 CHSAA 4A Player of the Year. Maestretti finished the year ranked number one in Colorado and number 5 in the country for strikeouts on the year with 271. She finished number one in both the state and the nation in games won with 27 decisions. If that wasn’t enough … Maestretti mastered the other side of the ball, batting .506 with 43 RBI and 9 home runs.
