Among Colorado high school lacrosse athletes, Betty Nelson was best in 2023. The stats show her saves total was best. Betty made 197 stops in 14 games – which was the second consecutive season in which published statistics ranked her with the most saves in the state. Nelson was selected as the best in her classification as class 5a player of the year and a popular leader for a team that proved to be one of the best stories of the spring 2023 season. After two straight one-victory campaigns, Betty helped lead columbine to a playoff appearance.  After her outstanding senior season in high school, the three-time member of team USA national development squads has now moved on to playing for North Carolina – which is a program that is consistently one of the best NCAA women’s lacrosse.
