CHSAA Flag Football Player of the Year
When Colorado high school sports historians look back on the genesis of flag football in this state, those reflections will be littered with Ariana Akey highlights. As the sport’s first true bonafide star, Ariana was the centerpiece of a dominant Mountain Vista team that went 38-0 over the past two seasons en route to back-to-back Class 5A state championships. In 2025, she threw for more than 4,500 yards and 89 touchdowns. She added over 1,500 rushing yards and 22 more scores on the ground. In the title game? Arianna, who also is a state champion in track, in addition to playing basketball and running cross country, stole the show with over 500 total yards and 7 touchdowns. Pro quarterbacks, take note. Just this February, she received the honor of Most Valuable Player at the NFL Flag Girls High School Showcase during Pro Bowl week.
